Authentify launches 2CHK out-of-band mobile app for financial transactions

Thursday 8 March 2012 00:53 CET | News

Authentify, a phone-based out-of-band authentication (OOBA) services provider, has launched an out-of-band mobile application for online financial transactions dubbed 2CHK.

How is works
Bank customers activate an app on their smartphones or PCs and link it to their accounts using voice or SMS-based OOB authentication. Once this is done, the 2CHK app is always on providing a secure channel to Authentifys authentication service. The bank or e-commerce provider can then use this second channel and the 2CHK app to show customers the transaction details and allow them to approve or reject them.

OOB authentication is used by banks, e-commerce services providers and enterprises to protect customers or users against man-in-the-middle and man-in-the-browser attacks used to steal login credentials or hijack online sessions.

Authentify’s multi-factor authentication (MFA) services enable organisations to add two-factor or multi-factor authentication layers to user logons, transaction verifications or changes such as adding an ACH payee, resetting passwords or changing contact information.
