2004: The year of phishing, professional virus-writing, and arrests

F-SECURE HAS published a security report for 2004 which it describes as the year of phishing, professional virus writing, and arrests.The first half of the year was marked by a spate of major virus attacks, the firm said. But the second half of the year has been relatively calm.F-Secure points out that network worms are a significant problem and advises that every single PC should have its own personal firewall.And, during 2004, the number of known viruses exceeded the 100,000 mark.
