Westpac to launch NFC m-payments solution

New Zealand-based financial institution Westpac has unveiled plans to launch a NFC-based mobile payment service in partnership with Visa.

With this solution, customers are enabled to store their Westpac debit and credit card details, alongside those of Visa and MasterCard within the banks mobile application and make payments by tapping their Android smartphones against a payment terminal.

Westpac customers in Australia will be able to access mobile payments in 2014.

In recent news, Westpack has launched its online platform which is set to offer functionality regardless the device in use.
