FIME, a French provider of consulting and market integration testing services for smart devices and secure chip-based applications, has granted qualification to security services provider Trustonic’s trusted execution environment (TEE) product.

The TEE is a secure area that resides in the main processor of a mobile device, such as a smartphone. It effectively and securely ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a trusted environment.

The qualification stamp verifies alignment of Trustonic’s product with two GlobalPlatform Specifications. Firstly, the GlobalPlatform TEE Client API Specification v1.0, which defines the communication between applications running in a rich operating environment and the applications residing in the TEE, and is essential for mobile manufacturers. And secondly, the GlobalPlatform TEE Internal API Specification v1.0 which outlines a set of criteria for the development of trusted applications and is key for application developers.

Trustonic works with businesses to integrate embedded security software and cryptographic key management for electronic devices. Trustonic works with service providers to protect and aid deployment of data and applications on people’s consumer electronic devices.

FIME ensures the compliance of mobile devices and chip-based applications to industry standards. Its international team works with manufacturers, banks and authorities within the EMV payments, mobile near field communication (NFC), telecom, transport and e-identity sectors.

In recent news, GlobalPlatform, a cross-industry association which identifies, develops and publishes specifications for the deployment and management of embedded applications on chip technology, has added Trustonic as its latest Full Member.
