Tim Hortons launches mobile payments solution

North American coffee chain Tim Hortons has launched mobile barcode payments at restaurants across Canada and the US.

The barcode technology provides a scan-to-pay option at participating Tim Hortons once a prepaid Tim Card is registered on the companys TimmyMe mobile app.

In December 2013, Tim Hortons launched an NFC mobile payments service using Host Card Emulation (HCE) at 3,500 locations in Canada and 800 in the United States.
