PayPal has launched a pilot project for a check-in based mobile payment service in Berlin, Germany.

The trial is set to enable customers to walk into participating shops and restaurants and pay for goods and services automatically (with authorisation). The solution works by recognising the customer’s profile when they enter and then linking it to their PayPal account.

In recent news, fast food chain McDonalds has unveiled plans to partner with PayPal in France to deliver online, in-store and m-payment options to its customers.
