This solution from Axalto and INSIDE works with any handset equipped with an antenna It relies on a single wire communication between the (U)SIM and PicoRead. This leaves remaining SIM contacts free for subscribers to enjoy a full range of high-speed services. Axaltos (U)SIM range included 2G and 3G SIM cards optimized for specific market requirements and use the Java SIM card to its fullest capabilities. The range is designed for interoperability, giving operators a competitive platform for deploying enhanced mobile services. PicoRead contactless reader IC introduces eNCF, enhanced NFC, a technology that offers the possibility to communicate either like a contactless reader or transponder. eNFC includes the capabilities of the recently announced NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, with the advantage that it is compatible with the existing installed RFID reader base including ISO 14443 A/B (Proximity) and ISO 15693 (Vicinity) and FeliCaT.
