This means that cell phone, PDA and point-of-sale vendors who are implementing infrared financial messaging (IrFM) capabilities must rely on Extended Systems test suite to ensure compliance with the IrDA specification. The IrFM Point and Pay Profile -- a recently released specification from the IrDA -- enables users to perform wireless financial transactions between a mobile device such as a cell phone and a point-of-sale terminal. Device manufacturers implementing IrFM capabilities into their products will need to validate, through IrDA Test Houses using the XTNDAccess IrDA Test Suite, that they are compliant with IrFM specifications. XTNDAccess IrDA Test Suite also tests for compliance with the OBEX (Object Exchange) test specification v 1.01. By combining OBEX and IrFM testing capabilities into one product, Extended Systems provides hardware manufacturers with a single tool to debug and test their devices, enabling fast and reliable deployment of products into the field.
