Ericsson has signed a USD 56 million contract with Guangxi Mobile Communications Company Limited (Guangxi Mobile) for the expansion of their GSM network in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This is the second expansion contract awarded to Ericsson by Guangxi Mobile during 2003.

Under the contract, Ericsson will provide Guangxi Mobile with GSM network equipment to help further enhance its network performance and capacity. Nanjing Ericsson Panda Communications Company Ltd., the largest joint venture of Ericsson in China, will provide the contracted equipments. Ericsson began its work with the Guangxi mobile market in 1992 when Ericsson helped deploy a TACS network for Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as the only equipment provider for the area. For years, Ericsson has been a major provider of GSM/GPRS network equipment for the region.
