The new network will provide both traditional narrowband services like wireline telephony and broadband service for fast Internet communications for both private and corporate subscribers. The new network will use the latest advanced Ericsson multi-service network technology using softswitch and includes the Ericsson Engine Integral Network and Ericsson Engine Access Ramp. The new network provides Telecom Egypt with a new efficient and flexible network that offers a wide range of modern narrow- and broadband, voice and data communications services in one network. The solution contracted provides class 5 services in a softswitch and Ericsson is the first vendor to supply this to Telecom Egypt. This means that the Ericsson Engine Integral Network, using layered architecture, is connected directly to the Ericsson Engine Access Ramp without a local exchange for connecting access nodes. This concept reduces capital expenditure and enables faster deployment of the network.
