IKEA has announced that it will invest USD 1.41 billion into the Chinese ecommerce market in the upcoming 2020 fiscal year.

This financing is IKEA’s biggest one-off annual investment in China. The money will mainly go toward user experience, business digitisation, and building more sales channels on Chinese digital platforms.

In 2018, IKEA announced it will build an 8 billion-yuan mixed-use shopping centre in Shanghai. Earlier in August 2019, the company has launched its online delivery system ahead of the opening of its first physical store in Mumbai, India.
