Consumers are ready to leave the password behind and adopt biometrics, according to the results from a survey commissioned by Visa.

Key findings of the survey:

  • Consumers typically use multiple passwords (61%) and PINs (40%), but do not have a unique one for each account;

  • More than the 65% of consumers are already familiar with biometrics;

  • 86% of consumers are interested in using biometrics to verify identity or to make payments;

  • 70% of consumers believe that biometrics are easier and 46% think they are more secure than using passwords or PINs.

The “Goodbye, passwords. Hello, biometrics” survey of 1,000 Americans exploring awareness and perceptions of biometric authentication shows that consumers continue to have a strong interest in new biometric technologies that make their lives easier.
