Russia: Bitcoin banned by end 2015

Monday 15 September 2014 14:19 CET | News

Russian regulators are expected to pass a Bitcoin ban by the end of 2015, cryptocoinsnews.com reports citing news agency Russia Today.

Aleksey Moiseev, Deputy Finance Minister, has informed that the eventual ban is to be discussed in the current session of parliament and that consultations with law enforcement agencies, about the specifics of legal measures, are also taken into account.

The ban is supposed to prevent the potential use of the currency in funding terrorism, buying illicit goods and rendering illicit services and money laundering.
