Zwipe, Toppan join forces to bring biometric payment cards to Hong Kong and Macau

Thursday 23 April 2020 12:01 CET | News

Zwipe has revealed it is teaming up with Toppan Forms Card Technologies to move biometric payment cards towards the commercialisation phase in Macau and Hong Kong.

The two companies will work together to develop new cards, and to market those cards to Toppan’s customers in the region. Toppan will integrate the Zwipe Pay ONE platform into its next generation of biometric cards. The Pay ONE platform incorporates a fingerprint sensor from IDEX biometrics, and provides card manufacturers with the software and operating system needed for a single-chip biometric secure element.

Toppan is a certified manufacturer of Visa, Mastercard, China UnionPay, JCB, and AMEX card products in Hong Kong, and it currently provides cards for a number of financial institutions both in Hong Kong and in Macau. For Zwipe, the Toppan partnership is one of several commercial biometric card initiatives.
