US Department of Treasury Selects Datakey CIP To Access

Thursday 4 December 2003 09:47 CET | News

US Department of Treasurys Financial Management Service (FMS) has incorporated Datakeys CIP client software and Model 330 Smart Card into its recently developed Secure Payment System (SPS).SPS provides a Browser-based system through which government agencies can prepare and submit payment schedules to FMS in a secure fashion over the Internet. Datakey CIP and Model 330 work with the SPS to authenticate users and digitally sign electronic forms via a web-based application. The new Secure Payment System is replacing the existing Electronic Certification System (ECS), which is a DOS-based application for submitting payment schedules via dial-up modem. The ECS previously utilized one-time password tokens for user authentication, but with the new SPS architecture, smart cards provide strong user authentication to the system as well as support the use of PKI to digitally sign the electronic payment schedules.
