Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP in April 2014, making the software noncompliant with PCI guidelines and requiring ATMs to have the latest security patches. US Banks conversion to Windows 7 is set to support compliance and provide security solutions for its ATMs.
Additionally, the companies are addressing EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) card requirements. Under the terms of the agreement, Diebold will install Encrypting PIN Pads (EPPs) on US Banks terminals.
Also, US Bank will implement the Agilis software application which is set to offer ATM functionality, such as image-enabled deposits, stamp purchases, statement printing, preference designation and charitable donations.
The US Bank upgrade is set to be complete in early 2014.
In recent news, US Bank and Western Union have entered an agreement to extend Western Union Money Transfer services to US Bank customers via online banking as well as through mobile banking.
