Communications software company Skype has made available a new prepaid card payment option for the Mexico market, dubbed Skype Cards.
The prepaid cards allow Skype users in Mexico to access the company’s services and make calls to mobile and landlines globally. Skype Cards are set to be made available at local retailers including El Palacio de Hierro, 7 Eleven, RadioShack and Best Buy, among others.
Skype Cards will be sold in two denominations: a 100 pesos (around USD 8) card with a monthly calling plan to landlines and mobile phones in the USA and a 150 pesos card with a pay-as-you-go calling plan for calls to telephone numbers in over 170 countries.
In recent news, Russian-based electronic payment systems provider Qiwi has entered an agreement with Skype to roll a new payment method for Skype users in Russia.
