Smart Transaction Systems (STS), a provider of gift card and loyalty card services, has launched an application for iPhone and iPad devices that enables businesses to process gift and loyalty card transactions using their mobile devices.

The Gift & Loyalty application uses QR codes on the back of cards to process transactions, enabling small businesses to accept and sell gift cards in-store. To process a card, users need to use the application to scan the card and captures the card data. After the transaction is complete, users can email a receipt to the customer. They can also customize e-receipts and use the QR code feature to share contact information with other smartphone users.
