ING extends biometric banking app functionality

Dutch bank ING has extended the functionality of biometric authentication on its mobile banking app to also include transactions.

ING said it has taken the measure following positive uptake of the app, which uses Apple’s Touch ID for logins and features voice commands.

The bank said around 100,000 customers are using the voice command function, mainly to check their account balance and order checking and savings transactions.

In September 2014 the bank said it was also studying plans to incorporate voice biometrics into the banking app.
